Sports massage has been gaining popularity over the years as athletes and trainers alike are recognizing the benefits. Sports Massage not only enhances sports performance but also prevents injury and facilitates the rebuilding phase. Sports massage plays a large role in all major athletic competitions, including the Commonwealth and Olympic games.

Whether you are a runner or a swimmer, you can benefit from regular sports massage. Over exercised muscles lose their capacity to release, causing tight or hypertonic muscles. As well, you may see a reduction in your overall flexibility. Experts suggest when muscles are tense, they become deprived of oxygen. This, in turn, causes a decrease in circulation to the affected area. Sports massage improves blood and lymph circulation, releases the muscles, reduces pain and increases flexibility.

Sports Massage as part of your Conditioning Program

Incorporating sports massage into your conditioning program has many benefits. It helps you get into shape in a shorter period of time, often with less associated stiffness and soreness. Sports massage can also help you recover faster from intensive workouts by assisting in the elimination of lactic acid build-up in the muscles. Athletes must also remember that stretching must be done before, after and between workouts. We also educate all athletes on the value of resting.
