Learn more about our PAARCC program here

The ICBC program offered at Electra is a program for individuals suffering from injury and pain from motor vehicle accidents. At Electra, our unique approach ensures that you are well-supported from beginning to end. Under the direction of your kinesiologist, our collaborative team of exceptional practitioners will guide you through your recovery process both in-house and at-home.

Understanding your coverage can be confusing. If your car accident occurred after April 1st, 2019, you have pre-approved treatments ready for you to use. You do not need a doctor’s referral but the treatments need to be performed in the first 12 weeks after your accident. Time is of the essence so do not delay starting your treatment plan. If you need additional therapy or you wait to come in after the 12 weeks, ICBC will require a doctor’s referral and additional reports for coverage to be approved. If your car accident occurred before April 1st, 2019, you will require a doctor’s referral and we will need to confirm with ICBC your approved for coverage and there are no pre-approved limits in this case.

Pre-approved limits for accidents occurring after April 1st, 2019:

  • Physiotherapy: 25 treatments
  • Massage Therapy: 12 treatments
  • Chiropractic:  25 treatments
  • Acupuncture:  12 treatments
  • Kinesiology: 12 treatments
  • Counseling: 12 treatments

ICBC Client Service Program

With the addition of our new ICBC clinic, Electra is excited to announce our ICBC client service program. This program is tailored to our clients that are coming to Electra for treatment from a motor vehicle accident. Your kinesiologist will design, implement, and oversee a program that is specifically targeted to you and your goals. This not only includes a comprehensive at-home and in-house movement program, but also the implementation of other types of therapy (RMT, chiro, physio, acupuncture) to help you get back to your recreational activities, work, and regular life.

What sets Electra apart from other ICBC client service programs is that we introduce you to your kinesiologist right away, who works collaboratively with the rest of the ICBC team. Under the direction of your kinesiologist, you are provided with a program administered to you by a close-knit group of passionate and dedicated therapists and support staff that ensure that you are well-supported and taken care of during your recovery process.

What to expect from the ICBC program

During your initial visit, you are immediately matched with your kinesiologist. From there, you will have a thorough assessment, in which your kinesiologist will assess your injuries. Together, you will come up with a treatment plan and objectives for your ICBC program.

Your kinesiologist will then develop and oversee an active rehab program: a customized exercise program to help you recover as quickly as possible. During your appointments, your kinesiologist will ensure that your exercises are done correctly and safely, and provide you with further instructions for at-home care so that you can continue your recovery outside of the clinic.

In addition, your kinesiologist will also implement and oversee other therapies to aid your recovery. This includes Registered Massage Therapy, Physio, Acupuncture and Chiropractic care. Our multi-disciplinary clinic makes this easy for you, providing you not only with your active rehab but also with all your other therapies in one clinic.

FAQs

Am I eligible for the ICBC client care program?

If you have been in a car accident after April 1st, 2019, and have an open ICBC claim, you are automatically pre-approved for 3 months (from the date of the MVA) for 12 sessions of kinesiology, registered massage therapy and acupuncture, and 25 sessions of physiotherapy and chiropractor appointments.
If you have been in a motor vehicle accident prior to April 1st, 2019 and still have an open claim, or it has been over 3 months since the date of your accident, a doctor’s note is required for your treatments.

How do I get started with the ICBC program?

In order to get started with your appointments, you need to provide our reception team with your ICBC Claim number, your name and your date of birth. After that, we will contact your adjuster on your behalf and take care of the rest. And you can begin your recovery right away!

What treatments will ICBC cover and how much will they cover?

The benefit of our program is that we direct bill all fees to ICBC. Therefore, there are no user fees and everything is 100% covered.
– Registered Massage Therapy
– Acupuncture
– Physiotherapy
– Chiropractic
– Kinesiology
– Occupational Therapy
– Counseling

Do I need to pay for any part of my treatment?

No, we bill the entire cost to ICBC on your behalf; there is no user fee.

How long are the treatments?

All subsequent treatments for Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, Kinesiologist and Massage Therapy treatments are 30 minutes and Chiropractic treatments are 15 minutes long.

Can I receive 2 therapies in one day (e.g. Physiotherapy and Chiropractic)?

Yes, but we only recommend this in a few cases.

Can I have 2 treatments of the same therapy in one day (e.g. Two 30-minute massage therapy appointments adding up to 1 hour)?

No, ICBC will not approve this.

Can you bill ICBC for an appointment that I missed?

Absolutely not, ICBC does not pay for no shows.

Can I come in for therapy before ICBC gives their approval?

Yes, if you choose to pay out of pocket but we are not responsible if ICBC refuses to cover your claim.

I’m not sure which profession to see, who do you recommend?

If you have a referral from your doctor, then you should start there. If not, we have all our new ICBC clients start with a Physiotherapist for 4 sessions. You will then be assessed and additional therapies may be recommended. We treat a lot of ICBC clients and this treatment plan has been very helpful in optimizing care for your injuries.

Can I see any therapist at the clinic?

We have specific therapists that focus on whiplash related disorders. So, these are the therapists we book you with. Also, to optimize your care, please stay with one therapist for a given profession.

I want to come in for 1-hour treatments, can I?

Yes, you can but ICBC will not cover the additional fee for the additional time. If you choose this you would need to pay out of pocket.

How do I book my appointments?

We do not provide online bookings for these treatments so please call 604-685-4325 to book all your appointments.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please call in at least 24 hours in advance if you need to move or cancel your appointment. All appointments that are either late cancellations or no-shows will need to be paid in full by the patient.

Thanks for all this information but I am still very confused, who can I talk to?

Please email rehab@electrahealth.ca

**It’s important to note that our ICBC direct billing service is a courtesy service and is not a guarantee that all direct billings will be approved or paid by ICBC. It remains the patient’s responsibility to pay for all unpaid treatments by ICBC should direct billing problems occur. Patients may be able to collect these payments directly from their ICBC claim specialist.
