Anxiety Counselling at Electra Health
Anxiety is a human response to a perceived threat — it can be triggered by several factors, such as fear, uncontrollable thought processes, traumatic flashbacks and intrusive thoughts. What most people do not realize is that they already have the tools to treat anxiety, but do not know how to use them.
That is why, at Electra, our counsellors’ approach to anxiety is unique: they focus on supporting you and helping you identify what triggers your anxiety and how to replace these thoughts with productive thinking patterns. And because every individual responds differently to anxiety, our counsellors are trained in many types of techniques, such as CBT, mindfulness therapy, psycho-sensorial approach etc., so that you can get back to feeling yourself.
What to expect in your session:
At your first appointment, you will meet with your counsellor. Our counsellors are always empathetic in their approach: they know that they are facing someone who is struggling emotionally or psychologically, and as such, make their space as inviting and comfortable to you as possible.
Your counsellor will spend your first sessions trying to identify the roots of your anxiety, making sure that you feel safe and comfortable throughout. Because every individual is unique, our counsellors have many different approaches to help you through this process and will always adapt to ensure that you feel supported.
Our counsellors know that you already have the solution to your anxiety, and that is why their approach is unique: they aren’t there to solve your anxiety but to help you find the right tools to deal with your thoughts as they present themselves. Using a variety of forms of therapies that you have both discussed, (CBT, psychotherapy, psycho-sensorial approach etc.) you and your counsellor will embark on a journey to get you back to feeling your best.
