Brent graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy with a strong desire to help people seeking relief from pain and stress and desiring a healthier lifestyle. He first experienced the power of massage therapy at Children’s Hospital during a prolonged stay there as an adolescent.
Brent’s visual impairment provides him with a distinct advantage in the field of Massage Therapy. To compensate for his reduced vision he has developed a heightened sense of touch and exceptional listening skills that translate into his superior palpation techniques and ability to truly listen and understand his clients’ needs. Brent has overcome many personal health-related obstacles in his past to become a Registered Massage Therapist and he firmly believes that those experiences have increased his ability to empathize with clients facing their own health challenges. Brent is especially interested in sports massage and is an avid sports fan himself. He grew up playing soccer, baseball and basketball and currently plays on an adaptive blind hockey team. He also stays active outdoors by skiing and snowboarding and taking his guide dog Nexa on local hikes.
Through a comprehensive but brief initial patient assessment, Brent provides treatments from an extensive toolbox of techniques and manual modalities that do not just aim to mask symptoms and provide temporary relief of pain but which address the underlying factors causing the dysfunction. This holistic approach results in a customized treatment package and an individualized home care plan that empowers his patients in their own recovery and rehabilitation.
