Allergy Testing – Vancouver Naturopaths

We frequently test for allergies to food, dogs, cats, and environmental allergens such trees, pollen, grass, and dust. Our Naturopathic doctors look at the type of allergic response you’re having, then choose the appropriate allergy test.

Who would benefit from Allergy Testing?

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may benefit from allergy testing:

  • Wheezing when breathing
  • Chest congestion
  • Itchy eyes nose or throat
  • Nasal congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Hive
  • Rashes
  • Itchy skin
  • Cramping
  • Diarrhea or bloating.

Generally speaking:

Inhaled allergens will produce signs and symptoms that affect the respiratory system and mucus membranes.

Ingested (food) allergens will produce signs and symptoms on the skin or in the gastrointestinal system (stomach, intestines, colon).

What Type of Allergy Testing Do We Do?

Our Vancouver allergy testing protocol focuses on blood testing.

Skin testing, which you may be familiar with, is best suited for acute allergens, however, it is not a good test for chronic allergies.

How Does the Blood Testing Work?

All you need to do is have a small pinprick and this will produce enough blood for the test. Your Naturopath will then ship it off for testing.
