Clinical Counselling

Background

Lisa earned her Master’s of Social Work degree in 1986 at the University of British Columbia. She enjoyed teaching graduate level students through her field faculty positions with U.B.C., University of Victoria and the University College of the Fraser Valley.

Prior to running her private practice, the  majority of Lisa’s work was in hospitals assisting  patients and their loved ones to re-establish new norms at discharge through resource education and counselling. She has worked extensively with anxiety, depression, adjustment to physical and emotional distress, addictions and grief and loss.  Lisa’s work included individuals, couples ,families and groups.

She understands  the privilege of being invited into people’s lives at vulnerable times. People have challenges. Family members get sick, accidents happen,  conflicts exist, people get older, you don’t always get the job or the promotion that you want.  Our ability to embrace and  fully experience life is about resilience : our ability to go through the ups and downs with a positive attitude.

Lisa’s devotion to her profession comes from her successful handling of the challenges she has had to deal with. She knows life is not always easy and knows you do not always dictate the hand you are dealt but fully believes you can dictate how it is played. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact her.
